Chai Pe Charcha with Vikram Gandhi

Dear Alumni,

We are excited to announce our next Chai pe Charcha interaction with Vikram Gandhi in Mumbai on March 9th 2017. The Chai pe Charcha series as you are aware, is a joint initiative of the HBS India Research Centre and the HBS Club and is an opportunity through which members of the club can meet up with inspiring alumni and spend time up close and personal with them over tea. As a part of this initiative, alumni have had the privilege of spending time with Jayant Sinha at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi, Naina Lal Kidwai, Aparna & Ajay Piramal and Ravi Venkatesan in Mumbai and Nadir Godrej in Kolkata last year and Renuka Ramnath earlier this year. We have also had the pleasure of curating conversations with Rahul Bajaj, Swati Piramal & Nadir Godrej in 2015. The objective is to afford an opportunity to hear these stalwarts share vignettes of their personal journey including the key inflection points in their lives, milestones & challenges and also garner insights on the industry segments that they lead and their views on the development of the country.

We have no doubt that this upcoming interaction with Vikram will prove to be meaningful, inspiring and insightful for those of you who are lucky to attend and will give you another opportunity to leverage your connect with HBS and the Alumni Club.

An MBA from the Harvard Business School where he was designated a Baker Scholar, and a B.Com with a high distinction from the University of Mumbai, Vikram is the quintessential Mumbai boy who went on to establish an illustrious career in Investment banking and over the years has developed an extensive experience in the international markets and a strong interest in public policy and philanthropy. As the Founder of Asha Impact, an impact investing platform Vikram, leverages its combined capital, networks and expertise to address the critical development challenges facing India and other emerging economies through impact investing, venture philanthropy and policy advocacy. He is also a Senior Advisor to The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and a Senior Advisor to Greenhill & Co. He is also a member of the Faculty of the Harvard Business School where he teaches in both the MBA & Executive Education programs?.?

Prior to his current activities, Vikram was Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Global Head of the Financial Institutions Business for Credit Suisse, in New York and Hong Kong and a member of Credit Suisse's Global Investment Banking Management Committee and the Fixed Income Operating Committee. Vikram has also worked at Morgan Stanley, where he was Co-Head of Global FIG in New York; his prior work at Morgan Stanley included heading the Firm's institutional strategy area, its Global E- commerce Committee, and as Country Head and President of Morgan Stanley India. Over a 23 year career in investment banking, Vikram has focused on advising Board of Directors and CEO’s around the globe on strategic direction and the implementation of major mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising initiatives.

He has also been involved with various developmental activities in India and globally. He is a Board Member and Chairman of the Asian Regional Committee of Grameen Foundation, a Board Member of Janalakshmi Financial Services, and a member of the Investment Committee at Gawa Capital. A Founding Member of Harvard University’s South Asia Initiative and also a Founder of Ashoka University, the first liberal arts college established in India, he is also a member of The Global Leaders Circle and associated with the Social Entrepreneurship initiative at Harvard Business School. He has also worked with the National Innovation Council over the last few years to set up The India Inclusive Innovation Fund and is a Member of the Standing Council of Experts under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Vikram is also a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, Washington DC, which plays an important role in promoting economic growth, reducing poverty and maintaining global financial stability.

Vikram has agreed to meet us at the HBS India Research Centre Office in Mumbai on Thursday, March 9th, from 6?.00?pm - 7.30pm. The group size is limited to 12-15 people and we will be confirming attendance on a first come first serve basis.
